YakHawaii OK... been off the water for almost one month now. Helping my wife and my kids settle in the school rythm. Now that everyone is in a routine, it's now my turn to play and do some kayak fishing. I have 10 days to complete during the month of September for the Aquahunters Makahiki. Will be out on the water Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hey Paul, set up looks good. When I had my 17' Boston Whaler I had a pump similar to the one you installed and it worked flawlessly. Your install should give you peace of mind and keep you high and dry.

The Kona guys will know the best place to get opelu, but if you are desperate you can usually find a package of two opelu in the fish department of KTA or other grocery stores. At $10, it's expensive bait, but it will get you out on the water! They have the boxes of ika (squid) too that are much more economical, but harder to use.

Thanks Son,
I'll check out Sports Authority and the Shop down in the Industrial area. I just got my boat from Kelly... Great guy.
Good luck out there.

I'm not too familiar with locally owned stores in Kona since I'm on the east side- I only know that Sports Authority has a huge fishing section. There is a place by the brewery in the old industrial area, but can't recall the name- Kona Fishing Supply, maybe? Sorry- not much help...
I did find that Kelly at P&P Kayaks was the only place on the island with a marine VHF- I bought his last one a few weeks ago, but he had more on the way. That's where you'll want to get rod holders too.
